GABA Tea Increases Mental Alertness

GABA enriched foods (including GABA tea) are served in Japanese schools as an aid to mental alertness.

Among the many health benefits of GABA tea, its aid in mental functioning is valued almost universally by the Japanese. Parents give their children GABA tea to increase their powers of concentration, which in turn give them a competitive advantage in school.

Increased mental alertness is also beneficial to business people or anybody involved in a competitve activity. GABA tea relieves stress and lowers anxiety, so the combined effects of increased mental alertness and decreased stress can give an advantage to anyone involved in business negotiations or other intense mental activity.

How does GABA tea help with mental alertness?

There are several mechanisms involoved with the increase in mental alertness that is associated with GABA tea. One of the main effects of GABA on the brain is to increase the efficiency of neurotransmitters that pass signals from one area of the brain to another.

Food which is consumed on a daily basis has a profound effect on the efficiency of neurotransmitters because the nutrients consumed provide the energy for the neurotransmitters to do their work. Although there are more than 100 types of neurotransmitters, GABA plays an important role in the brain by allowing all neurotransmitters to function effeciently.

GABA is capable of passing the blood-brain barrier and so has direct access to the brain from the blood stream. As an inhibitory amino acid, GABA plays an important role in relieving brain cell excitation that may cause mental problems such as manic depression.

In addition, GABA tea can slow down the degradation of brain cells as we age. The Human Growth Hormone (HGH) is responsible for stimulating growth and cell reproduction. After the age of about 21, the levels of HGH decrease by 14% every 10 years, so that by the age of 60 only half the original level of HGH remains.

GABA tea stimulates the production of HGH. This in turn leads to the rejevenation of brain cells and increased mental alertness. HGH also has many other health benefits including boosting the immune system, lowering blood pressure, preventing heart disease, and increasing sex drive.
