High Blood Pressure

GABA tea is useful in preventing hypertension

It is estimated that one in every four American adults has high blood pressure. Once high blood pressure develops, it usually lasts a lifetime.

GABA tea can help bring down blood pressure by relaxing the muscles of arteries and veins. GABA (g-aminobutyric acid) is one of the major inhibitory amino acid neurotransmitters of the human body. It prevents muscles from contracting, and since arteries and veins are lined with muscles drinking GABA tea allows more blood to flow through veins and arteries.

GABA tea is a natural source of GABA and is useful for bringing down blood pressure and controling hypertension. Always check with your doctor if you suspect you have high blood pressure, but follow this link to find out more about hypertension.

Drinking GABA tea on a regular basis is an effective way to control high blood pressure. It tastes great and has many other health benefits beside preventing hypertension. GABA tea is popular in Japan and since its discovery in 1987 it has been used to prevent disease and stimulate mental alertness.

The effectiveness of GABA in lowering blood pressure has been established in many scientific studies such as this Japanese study that examines the mechanism of GABA in reducing hypertension.

GABA tea is effective in reducing high blood pressure because of a process call action potential. An action potential is a rapid, transient, self-propagating electrical excitation of the membrane of electrically excitable cells, also known as a spike or nerve impulse (in neurons). Action potentials occur in nerve, muscle, and neuroendocrine cells and are generated and propagated through the actions of voltage-gated ion channels. An action potential is essentially a brief (~1 ms long), regenerative change in the membrane potential which occurs in electrically excitable cells such as the smooth muscle in veins and arteries. Action potentials are essentially digital signals which encode information as a temporal sequence. With GABA, G-protein coupled receptor sites (the largest super family of cell-surface receptors) are competed for in smooth muscle, ensuring that smooth muscle of arteries and veins relaxes and that action potentials do not fire. As the smooth muscle relaxes, arteries and veins begin to vasodilate, increasing their circumference, allowing more blood to flow which subsequently reduces blood pressure throughout the circulatory system.

If you are suffering from high blood pressure, by all means follow your doctor's advice about treating hypertension. GABA tea can be used as a safe supplement to other medication, but should never replace your prescribed medical treatment. Besides reducing hypertension, GABA tea has many other health benefits including increasing mental alertness, promoting regular sleep patterns and reducing stress. Try drinking GABA tea every day and enjoy all the health benefits of this tasty, refreshing beverage.
